OklaHobie Rocket Man

Warning… This is probably the dumbest video I’ve ever made, and I’ve made a bunch of dumb videos. But it’s even dumber if you don’t have any context…

I ordered an Astronaut costume online so I could do some cheesy recognition video about people being “out of this world.” A friend at work saw me walking around in my spacesuit and said, “What’s up Rocket Man?” and then follows it with… “Did you ever see William Shatner perform “Rocket Man” at the 1978 Science Fiction awards? I’d never seen it before, and I definitely would have remembered because it’s so bizarre and great. Once I watched Shatner’s version, I knew I needed to re-create it.

So you may be wondering, “what’s that have to do with Oklahoma tourism?”

Great question. Did you know that Oklahoma has it’s own Spaceport? Plus, the Chief of NASA, Jim Bridenstine, was pulled straight from Oklahoma to take over the top spot so obviously we are a big player in the space race! If you want to learn more about Oklahoma Aerospace click here.
